PROCESSING:
Graceful Geisha, Guatemala – This elegant and aromatic washed Geisha comes from Finca La Bella, located in Guatemala’s Huehuetenango region, near the Mexican border. Grown at altitudes ranging from 1,600 to 1,800 meters, the coffee benefits from the cool mountain climate and mineral-rich soils that foster ideal conditions for Geisha to thrive.
This lot is washed processed, a method that enhances the variety’s floral and citrus characteristics. After careful handpicking at peak ripeness, the cherries are depulped, fermented, and thoroughly washed before being dried under controlled conditions. This meticulous processing brings out the Geisha’s signature clarity, brightness, and elegance.
The result is a clean and refined cup, with distinct flavor notes of bergamot, floral tones, chocolate, and cane sugar—a harmonious balance of sweetness, structure, and delicate aromatics.
HISTORY:
The story of Finca La Bella began in 1960, evolving into a respected name in Guatemalan specialty coffee. Current producer Teodoro Engelhardt represents the fourth generation of coffee growers in his family. Teodoro joined the family farm in 1999, working alongside his father for 13 years. After his father’s passing, he took over the farm, continuing the family legacy with passion and expertise passed down through generations.
Under Teodoro’s leadership, Finca La Bella has become internationally recognized for its exceptional quality and multiple appearances in the Cup of Excellence competition. His dedication ensures that this special Geisha continues to inspire coffee lovers worldwide.
The broader coffee culture of Huehuetenango and the La Sierra de las Minas mountain range dates back to the 1950s, transforming the region from a remote area into a vibrant hub of specialty coffee production. The diverse landscape cultivates not only Geisha but also Villa Sarchi, Bourbon, Caturra, Pache, and Pacamara, contributing to the region’s reputation for producing complex, expressive coffees.
Each cup from Finca La Bella is a tribute to tradition, terroir, and craftsmanship—a coffee that captures the elegance and depth of Guatemalan Geisha.
