This Yellow Catuai lot comes from Sitio Baixadão, a small 11-hectare farm run by Helisson Afonso da Silva in the renowned Mantiqueira de Minas region of Brazil. At 1,300 meters above sea level, the farm benefits from the region’s balanced climate (average 17°C), producing coffees with excellent sweetness, body, and complexity. Helisson is the son of Sebastião Afonso da Silva, winner of Brazil’s 2015 Cup of Excellence Natural category — and carries on the tradition of excellence with passion and care.
The coffee is naturally processed, with ripe cherries carefully selected and laid out on patios to dry for up to two weeks. Throughout the drying process, the cherries are turned frequently to ensure uniformity. After drying, the fruit is depulped, leaving clean, dried beans ready for final processing. This hands-on approach results in a rich, fruit-forward coffee that reflects both the terroir and the Silva family’s dedication to quality.
Baixadão represents more than just great coffee, it’s a story of heritage, environmental stewardship, and a commitment to preserving biodiversity through sustainable practices. Each cup offers a taste of Brazil’s finest coffee-growing traditions.
